Trade mission’s ‘can’ do success story for Kendal jobs
A Government trade mission which turned into an international media sensation thanks to a Kendal businessman’s innovative promotional idea, is set to pave the wave for 25 new jobs for the town.
Councillor James Airey, the Conservative group leader in Cumbria County Council, has been invited to mark the success of the trade mission to China with Prime Minister Theresa May in January (2018) which saw Kendal Nutricare secure an £85 million contract to supply its Kendamil formula which paves the way for 25 new jobs.
The Kendal firm’s Chief Executive, Ross McMahon, sparked international media-interest by holding two cans of the company’s formula during the trade mission’s Chinese welcoming ceremony.
Ross McMahon commented “I am delighted to welcome James Airey to Kendal Nutricare. The Government trade mission to China was a huge success and I am looking forward to working with colleagues in China now that we have received approval from China FDA and secured the contract. It is fantastic news for both the company and the local area and as a result, I wish to create further employment opportunities.”
Councillor James Airey, CEO Ross McMahon and members of the media met at Kendal Nutricare today (Tuesday 13 March) where they where interviewed and photographed with the two cans of Kendamil which helped secure the multi-million-pound trade deal.
During his visit, Councillor Airey also learned more about the company’s plans to use the trade mission’s success to create 25 new jobs in Kendal.
