The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Primary department, this is an opportunity for the right candidate to gain skills and experience across a multitude of areas within the factory.

You will be operating processing equipment to maximise the efficiency and effectiveness of the material flow process, in a safe and structured manor following Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).

Day to day tasks involve general production duties ranging from receiving raw materials, blending, mixing as well as operating the Pasteuriser, Reconstitution plant, Evaporator & Spray Drier.

As a Key member of the team you will help contribute to ensuring our Key operational targets are achieved in a structured and organised manor.

This is a varied role and just right for someone looking for a new challenge — no two days are the same!

This is a full time role based at our headquarters in Kendal. Bank Holiday working will be required. You will be required to work the following 3 week shift pattern:

  • Earlies:               06:00 – 13:30 Monday to Friday  
  • Nights:                21:00 – 06:30 Monday, Tuesday; 21:00 – 06:15 Wednesday, Thursday
  • Lates:                   13:15 – 21:15 Monday to Thursday; 13:15 – 18.45 Friday

Key Accountabilities: 

  • Production — to constantly liaise and support operations and the engineering department to ensure agreed schedules are met and are consistent with the requirements to meet customer demands.
  • Productivity — shift based role, working an earlies, nights and lates shift pattern over five days, Monday to Friday.
  • GMP, Safety and Environment — operating within set standards regarding product safety and quality.
  • Relationships — reporting to the Team Leader, daily work in partnership with peers and peer groups above in all areas (Engineering, Production, Planning, QA as well as external bodies).
  • Complying with safety procedures including but not limited to: adopting safe working practices, wearing the required protective clothing and use of safety equipment appropriate to the role.

 What you’ll need: 

  • Fork lift Truck licence or willingness to work towards this.
  • Previous experience and working knowledge of the food industry and machinery is preferable but not essential as on the job training will be provided.
  • Once trained, the post holder will work unsupervised to strict procedural guidelines.
  • We are looking for a good communicator and an individual who is flexible to changing work shifts.
  • To succeed in this role you will be diligent with a flexible approach to work and a ‘will do/can do’ attitude.   
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision, working to tight deadlines. It’s crucial that you are accurate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Being computer literate is a necessity, experience of working with Excel spreadsheets, the internet and email.
