The Role

As the Senior Procurement Manager for Kendal Nutricare you will be responsible for managing relationships and negotiating commercial terms with 40+ existing suppliers (particularly a number of key accounts), strengthening the continuity of our supply chain by creating optionality in our procurement process and forecasting our supply chain requirements alongside our planning manager. 

You will be a key member of Kendal Nutricare, working with other senior members of the team to ensure that we are adapting and expanding our supply chain in a sustainable manner. 

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Senior Management team (Commercial Director, CEO) with updated concerning the assured supply for our growing business and b) diversification of supply (to infant spec). 
  • Supporting day to day and week to week supplier order execution and performance
  • Developing a Business Continuity Plan for all materials/categories in scope.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to ensure that we are receiving commercial incentives / discounts in line with the growth of our account. 
  • Managing the overall annual capacity plan for ingredients and packaging suppliers, determining the risks in our supply chain and establishing backup plans in the event of capacity constraints. 
  • Develop quarterly and annual capacity plans for packaging and ingredient suppliers
  • Lead Period Supplier Capacity Review Calls with Plant leadership.
  • Lead strategic tenders of key supply chain dependencies with regularity, visiting trade shows to expand your network of suppliers.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships between Procurement and other key functions, Quality, R&D, Sales, Warehousing, Planning, Operations, Finance, etc.
  • Keeping up to date on the evolving network of potential suppliers of ingredients/packaging that may be of interest to Kendal Nutricare in the future. 

Qualifications And Skills

  • Excellent functional knowledge (5+ years in experienced procurement roles): depth of different aspects of procurement such as sourcing, category management, processes and tools in a rapidly evolving environments, with the food & beverage industry but preferably within dairy or pharmaceutical. 
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills – excellent negotiator and strong communication and influencing skills to all organizational levels and particularly at executive level. Demonstrated ability to develop credible business relationships with operations directors, procurement directors, supply chain managers. 
  • Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 
  • Must be able to do advanced analysis using excel.
  • Strong experience on strategic sourcing, vendor and contract management
  • ERP experience
  • Must be able to travel if required (3 times per quarter)
  • Preferred (not required): Experience working with short shelf life ingredients
